HISTORY
The ABS-CBN Foundation's E-Media began when it first started producing an elementary science television program, Sine'skwela, in 1994. Through the show, AFI hoped to supplement science education in schools across the Philippines. The following year, a values education show called Hirayamanawari and Bayani, a show on Filipino heroes, were produced and aired. Then came MathTinik, Epol/Apple (for basic English Language and Expressions), and Pahina, its first show for the secondary level which focused on various literary pieces.
Through the years, AFI facilitated the donation of televisions to public schools so that teachers would be able to implement television-assisted instruction in their own classrooms. It also produced Teacher's Guides which suggested discussion topics and activities for teachers using the program episodes.
Along with these, a Research Department was established. Its main task was to gather data and feedback to help determine the viewers' needs and ways in which E-Media can improve. A Teacher Training Unit was likewise created to provide technical support for the teachers and parents who use the shows to supplement their youngsters' education.
Then from Educational Television, AFI went into educational radio. In 1996, Bago 'Yan, Ah!, a radio program on science and technology started airing over DZMM. In six short years, AFI's E-Media has produced six multi-awarded shows internationally and locally acclaimed for both television and radio.
